FAQ's
Which
credit cards do we accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover/Novus, and American Express cards are accepted,
as well as debit cards which bear the Visa or Mastercard logo.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, on most items you can, as long as the food has not been prepared
or specially ordered prior to the day of the event. If the order has already
been prepared we will attempt to cancel the order, but cannot guarantee
that the cancellation will be possible.
Is
there a minimum guest count to my order?
Yes, but if your guest count falls below the minimum there will be a small
upcharge assessed and verified for your planning purposes. Most all buffets
include all the necessary serving equipment and tableware. The buffets
are designed for self-service on the Executive Catering Menu, but serving
attendants are available. Minimum order for boxed lunches is 10, for buffets
12. All orders placed by fax will be confirmed. Orders placed by fax after
5:00 pm will be confirmed the next day after 8:00 am, and may be subject
to special delivery times and condition.
Do
we do in and out of town deliveries, and how much is the charge?
Yes, we do deliveries in the Wichita area for 10.00 before 5:00 PM, after
5:00 PM 17.50. All deliveries out of the Wichita area are subject to distant
and time charges. Your sales coordinator will be able to price you a quote.
How
much in advance do I need to place an order or reserve the date of my
function?
- We welcome
same day orders, but depending on what is needed
for
the event may be subject to special conditions and delivery times.
- We will
confirm all orders 48 hours before delivery for any changes in
the menu, guest count, serving times, or other needed changes.
- Caterings
for Picnics will be confirmed 72 hours prior to the event, and
weddings are confirmed and paid in full 48 hours prior to the
event.
- We strongly
urge you to set a date for your wedding or picnic function ahead
of time due to availability of locations and close out dates for
special events.

What
purchases are sales tax exempt?
Only direct
purchases by a religious organization of items to be used exclusively for
religious purposes are exempt. A direct purchase is a sale that is billed
directly to the religious organization and is paid for by the religious
organization's check or voucher. Purchases made by employees or agents with
their personal funds are TAXABLE, even if they are later reimbursed the
expense by the religious organization.
What
purchases are taxable?
Personal property and services that are purchased for use in undertaking
business activities, even though the profits from such enterprises are
used exclusively for religious purposes, and personal property and services,
such as food, clothing, personal items, meals drinks, motor vehicles,
admission charges, and membership dues, that are for the personal use
of ministers, priest, and other employees, rather than a use that is exclusively
for a religious purpose.
What
happens if it rains on the day of my picnic or my outdoor event?
- If you
need to reschedule your event date prior to 72 hours there is
no charge. Inside 72 hours of the event a 15% fee of the total
portion of the proposal will be charged. The alternate date must
be within 60 days of original date. Cancellation of the function
prior to 72 hours of the event will result in a 10% fee of the
total proposal cost charged, to compensate Spear's Catering for
time and effort made in planning and coordinating the event. In
addition any incurred facility charges as a result of the cancellation
will be paid by the client, also any additional charges for the
facility after the picnic will be paid by the client.
- Within
24 to 72 hours a cancellation will result in a 30% charge of
the total proposal cost is due to Spear's Catering. Starting 24
hours until the time Spear's Catering leaves to set up the function
a fee of 50% will be charged to the client should a cancellation
occur. Once Spear's Catering has left for the picnic site 100%
of the proposal cost is due.
- Reason
for cancellation may include, but are not limited to fire,
rain,
flood, other acts of God, or Client's specific needs. Our goal
would be to reschedule an event which needs to be canceled. Therefore,
we have many creative suggestions on how to salvage picnic, weddings,
or other outdoor events should the need arise to cancel yours.

What
is Spear's Catering guarantee policy?
The invoice will be based upon your guarantee number, or actual number
served, whichever is greater on all attended functions. All left-over
food items will remain the property of Spear's Catering.
Do
I need to make a deposit to hold the day of my event?
Yes! All attended and special events will require a deposit. Your sales
coordinator will be happy to work with you concerning the amount of the
deposit needed.
What
if my guest count changes?
We will try to accommodate any last minute changes prior to our 48 or
72 hour confirmation of all guest counts and other changes. There could
be limitations to certain food items depending on the order if it goes
up. If the guest count goes down the client will be responsible for the
final confirmation number of guests due to prior preparations. Therefore,
we are not able to reduce charges for any reason.
